Enamelling Taster Workshop
Enamelling Taster Workshop
Discover enamelling through the sifting technique
Explore texturing metal for transparent enamelling, creating multiple samples and a silver pendant to take away.
This course will enable you to create textures on metal with the rolling mill and then apply transparent coloured enamel using the dry sifting method. You will then learn how to safely fire your pieces in a kiln, creating multiple test pieces and samples. If you feel really inspired by one of your samples there is opportunity to develop your ideas and create a wearable silver pendant to take away.
You will gain the confidence to be able to work independently following the session and develop the technique in your own work.
What will be covered?
- Preparing the copper prior to texturing
- Texturing the copper test pieces using the rolling mill with various materials
- Sifting clear enamel onto your copper test pieces and firing
- Preparing the silver blank prior to texturing and enamelling
- Applying your favourite texture onto the silver blank
- Sifting coloured transparent enamel onto the silver over stencils
- Cleaning the finished silver piece or sample
All course materials will be provided on the day.
